Mechanical Engineer

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with Project Manager experience for our Grand View, ID office. Salary range $81,000-$125,000 - Great Benefits Package! Relocation cost paid!

Job Description:

  • Provide insights and recommendations regarding optimization of daily operations from a technical perspective. Other members of the management team include the General Manager, Environmental Compliance Manager, Health and Safety Manager and Laboratory Manager.
  • Take the lead in developing conceptual engineering plans for potential facility improvements and capital growth initiatives, with input from your facility management team.
  • Gain familiarity with state and federal regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and review final design components prepared by third parties, as needed.
  • Project management of construction projects including engineering review, development of bid packages, contractor selection and contract development/management.
  • Conduct or coordinate bi-annual landfill as-built surveys; including volume calculations and compaction optimization.
  • Provide process engineering support and associated monitoring and evaluation of waste treatment processes.
  • Identify potential design or operational innovations and efficiencies.
  • Modify or otherwise review the engineered storm water management controls for the facility.
  • Ensure safe, compliant and efficient design and operation of applicable leachate collection and detection systems.
  • Seek continued education in relevant fields of professional engineering. The initiative to obtain and maintain professional licensure will be supported but not a core requirement.
  • Will have an indirect line of reporting to the Engineering Director and will be encouraged to maintain associations and occasional support to other engineers / specialized projects within the company.
  • Help ensure systems are designed and constructed in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assists in business acquisitions and technology evaluation
  • Oversee the revisions to the facility closure and post-closure plans and associated cost estimates.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost-benefit analysis for technological improvements or reagent alternatives, as needed.
  • Assist in the development of master site drawings which include existing infrastructure as well as long-term future development.
  • Occasional opportunities to assist other USE facilities, on projects where the individual's unique skill set would be beneficial for a specific technical need.
  • Reporting line would be direct to the General Manager with a dotted line to Engineering

What you need to apply:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in related engineering field plus 10 years of experience in design and project management. Preference is toward the civil or mechanical fields, although other technical fields and backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Licensed professional engineer preferred
  • Background and experience with construction activities and project management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Power Point software applications are essential.
