Distribution Center Trainer

Facilitates/conducts non-exempt training programs within the Distribution Center. Supports DC Operations with all training initiatives including: WMS/Retek implementation, certification of new and current Ross and Temporary Staffing Agency Associates on engineered standards (procedures/methods), and programs to increase the job knowledge, productivity, and performance of DC Associates.

Essential Job Functions:        
Conduct WMS/Retek training curriculum as outlined by Training Manager to include:    
•    Prepare for training sessions by organizing all necessary supplies and setting up practice purchase orders, merchandise, and situations.
•    Train processes and procedures through verbal instruction, demonstration, and trainee’s hands-on execution of required job skills.
•    Evaluate trainee’s ability to retain covered information through informal, frequent check for understanding during training session.
•    Complete training curriculum in specified time frame.
•    Use appropriate assessment tools to provide feedback regarding trainee’s progress and relay to Training Manager and DC Operations Management.
•    Assist in the development of additional training materials to ensure success of all Associates.
•    PIT instructional and hands-on training and re-training for associates in specific job functions.
    
Conduct engineered standards (procedures/methods) training curriculum as developed by Training Manager and Industrial Engineers to include:
•    Prepare for training sessions by organizing all necessary supplies and setting up practice purchase orders, merchandise, and situations.
•    Train processes and procedures through verbal instruction, demonstration, and trainee’s hands-on execution of required job skills.
•    Evaluate trainee’s ability to retain covered information through informal, frequent check for understanding during training session.
•    Complete training curriculum in specified time frame.
•    Use appropriate assessment tools to provide feedback regarding trainee’s progress and relay to Training Manager and DC Operations Management.
•    Assist in the development of additional training materials to ensure success of all associates.
•    Other duties as assigned.
    
Maintain an acceptable performance level as a Merchandise Processor in assigned home department in the Distribution Center. An acceptable performance level includes achieving and maintaining prescribed productivity, attendance, safety, and behavioral expectations.
    
Develop and maintain a level of operational expertise in a minimum of one functional area in the Distribution Center. The DC Trainer will become the recognized expert by the Training Manager and Operations Management as the primary training contact for that functional area.
   
Qualifications And Special Skills Required/Preferred:
•    Sound understanding of DC merchandise flow.
•    Sound understanding of WMS/Retek system (or DCIS.)
•    Consistent execution of engineered standards and procedures.
•    Strong command of English, both oral and written.
•    Well-developed interpersonal skills that include a demonstrated willingness to help others become successful using a patient, coaching approach.
•    Counting and computation skills.
•    One year of consecutive service as a Merchandise Processor in the DC, exception made for new DC’s and external hires.
•    Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as business needs warrant.
•    Must pass Word, Excel and Math Aptitude testing.
